Melanie Marts is a Professional Gemologist, trained by the Gemological Institute of America, receiving her diploma in 1991. She has been the sole proprietor of Jewelry Appraisal Services as an independent appraiser since 1994. With 25 years of experience in the jewelry industry, she meticulously examines fine jewelry in conformity with generally accepted professional standards and the rules of professional ethics of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.
Melanie appraises all types of jewelry, including precious and semi-precious gems, pearls, watches and sterling silver flatware sets. She provides appraisal reports for various purposes, including insurance, estate, and liquidations. She is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers and of the Washington DC Chapter of GIA Alumni for 20 years and has served in the past as Secretary and Vice-President.
LIMITING CONDITIONS
1. The volumetric estimation of the weight of mounted diamonds and other gemstones is subject to error generally confined to +/-5%.
2. Color and Clarity analysis are compromised when performed on mounted gemstones.
